This map allows thousands of refolding without fraying and has a scale of 1:22,500.Palgrave Concise Historical Atlas of Central Asia (Rafis Abazov) is a 144 page paperback that is considered an excellent reference for western visitors to help them understand not only the terrain, but the complexity of Central Asian history, geopolitics and recent political developments (all pretty handy information to any traveler, we would think).The History Atlas of Asia (Ian Barnes) contains entertaining, authoritative, and overflowing graphics and cutting-edge maps pertaining to the historical development of Asia. The book contains colorful maps, lively text, and illustrations prepared by leading cartographers and specialists in the history of Asia as well as a complete historical background of the major events that shaped the continents past and present.Japan Atlas: A Bilingual Guide (Atsushi Umeda) has a third edition set to be released in February, 2011 and will be completely revised from earlier editions. This reference is considered to be the only atlas of its kind to provide place names in both English and Japanese (for those language aficionados) and includes a total of 68 maps that reflect changes to Japan’s infrastructure (roads, transit systems, buildings, etc.). Eight comprehensive maps feature notable tourist and resort areas, domestic airline routes, and thematic maps such as natural parks, World Heritage sites, historic spots, pottery kiln areas, and more.Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia Travel Map (New Holland Publishers) caters specifically to the needs of tourists and visitors and is packed with all the essential information to introduce travelers to each dynamic destination. Key buildings and places of interest are pinpointed, as well as where to stay. Distance and climate charts enable travelers to plan their visits, while stunning photographs conjure up each destination’s special atmosphere.
