map of the Holy Roman Empire, said to be
neither holy, Roman nor an empire. The extent
of the map is from Chartre in France to Dantzig
and from Schleswig to the Adriatic and the
Italian Lakes. Visscher maps are characterized
by the amazing amount of placename detail
