The
maps listed are from the County Atlas of Hampshire Massachusetts ...
F.W. Beers ..., published in New York by F.W. Beers in 1870.
Hampshire
County is the central county of the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts. It includes
the rich bottom lands along the Connecticut River, the vibrant communities of
Northampton and Amherst, and the lovely hill towns to the east and west. It is
home to the Five College consortium: Amherst, Smith, Mount Holyoke, Hampshire
and the University of Massachusetts flagship campus. It is where northern New
England begins. It is our home turf. We know it well and what we don't
know, we can find out.
Maps
are mostly on single-page sheets and printed only one side. After the county map, they are
listed in alphabetical order by town. All are original. They are
generally in very good condition. A digital
picture can be supplied upon request.

In
the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts, some consider Northampton to be paradise.
Without question, it is a vibrant community with Smith college, an active street
scene and a lively nightlife. Easthampton is now being swept into the cultural
main stream of the valley. These maps cover sections of each of these
cities.
Maps
are on double-page sheets with neat line dimensions of about 16 x 26 inches.
They are printed one side only. The scale is 200 feet/ inch on all plates. Color shows various cartographic features, such
as public and institutional grounds, building materials (wood, brick or stone),
water areas, and ward boundaries. Property owners are identified. Railroad
tracks are shown, as are water and sewer lines. All are original. They are
generally in very good condition except as noted. A digital picture can be
supplied upon request.
